February is winding down and we approach March reasonably confident things will be warming up for Homeowners in Lake Anna. While we shouldn’t see the blistering cold of the dead of winter we are bound to be in for at least a little more wintering precipitation. Regardless it is time to review our tasks for home maintenance in March.
March is a transition month as one season flows into another. Usually, in Virginia, this means rain and wind. And rain and wind means you better make sure your house is ready. Here are some simple tips to help you prep for March.
Raise the Roof
Well not really, just inspect the roof. If the roof took a beating broken shingles could mean trouble come the showers of Spring. This is well worth it to get someone to look at the roof so your beautiful Lake Anna home does not take water damage from a leaky roof.
Check drainage
Check the downspouts or anywhere water collects outside to make sure it is draining properly
Check for leaks
Check your toilets, sinks, hoses…anywhere there is a water appliance or water access to make sure you do not have leaks
Fireplace shut down
The cold winter is ending soon. Time to get that chimney cleaned and inspected so it is ready for next Winter. Don’t wait until next winter and then feel pressured to get it done before it gets really cold.
Air Filters
No one likes changing air filters. But it can have a huge impact on your air flow, air quality, and energy bill
Energy Leaks
If you haven’t done this in a while check for energy leaks around windows, doors, and flooring
Fire Alarms
Always check those fire alarms. Better safe than sorry
Batteries and survival stuff
Use this time to stock up on emergency supplies for whatever life, or mother nature throws at you. This includes batteries, flashlights, surplus water and non perishable food.
It Is Your Greatest Investment
Though time consuming and laborious these tips will help you maintain your most important investment..your home.
